4 boiled potatoes boiled and mashed
1/2 cup boiled and coarsely crushed green peas or channa dal or both
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala/sabzi masala
salt to taste
oil for frying

  1. Combine all the ingredients except oil in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a round, flat tikki.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) on a medium flame and grease it with oil and cook the tikkis, using little oil, till both sides are golden brown in colour or fry in hot oil. 
  4. Serve hot with tamarind chuttney,curd ,green chutney grated raddish and sliced onions.
  1. If you are not deep frying the tikki then you can avoid bread crumbs.
